AHRM PHR / SPHR Certification Scholarship
The Program
The Association of Human Resources Management of Greater Grand Rapids (AHRM) has established a scholarship program to encourage AHRM members to enhance their career potential and professional status by obtaining their certification as Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR). This program is funded and managed by AHRM. Awards are given without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, disability or national origin covered veteran status or other legally protected status in accordance with federal, state, or local law.
Eligibility
Applicants must currently be an AHRM member.
Applicants must meet the guidelines to take the certification exam.
Applicants must show proof of application and proof of payment to take the PHR or SPHR certification exam.
Scholarship Awards
Two scholarship awards granted per membership year. The authorized distribution for new award is the current cost of certification exam for PHR or SPHR.
Application
Applications are available via the AHRM website or can be picked up at the AHRM monthly meeting. Please complete the application and mail to AHRM Headquarters PO Box 2064 Grand Rapids, MI 49501 or turn in application at the check in table at the monthly AHRM meetings. All applications must be postmarked by March 30, 2003 for the May exam and October 30, 2003 for the December exam for consideration of the current exam.

Recipient Selection
The scholarship recipient will be selected at random.
Not all applicants will receive an award.
All applicants will be notified of their status prior to the April and November AHRM monthly meetings.
Payment of Award
Scholarship payments are authorized by AHRM. A check will be drafted and presented to the recipient at the April and November AHRM monthly meeting. If recipient is unable to attend, the award will be mailed to the recipient's address as stated on the application. NOTE: If the receipt winner does not take the test the scholarship will be paid back to AHRM.
Obligation
The recipient of the scholarship award has no obligation to AHRM. However, AHRM would like the recipient to participate in a brief interview for the newsletter and attend the AHRM membership meeting to receive proper recognition.
Revision Policy
The general conditions and procedures under which the scholarship is made will be subject to periodic review by the AHRM Board and Scholarship Committee including termination of the program.
