Please join us for breakfast and a presentation from Heather Chapman of Paradigm Safety on Creating and Strengthening a Safety Culture with a Comprehensive Onboarding and Training Strategy.

Safety training can have a bad reputation as being boring and long.  Too many of us have memories of being stuck in a chair for an hour or more while someone goes into great detail about a topic that doesn’t have much pertinence to you.  Your head nods, your eyes droop, and you end up thinking about all the other things you need to do that day.

In this session, we’ll talk about how to ramp up your safety training and engage your employees in the learning process.  No more nodding off, no more sessions that employees dread going to!  Today, we’ll review some techniques that will help keep your safety training short and sweet.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review standards that have training requirements
  • Have an idea toolbox to help you get started on your safety training program
  • Understand annual training requirements
  • Know what resources are available to help build and improve your training

Speaker Biography

Heather Chapman

For the last 17 years, Heather Chapman has excelled in both private and public sectors as an Environmental Health and Safety professional. She holds a master’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health and is credentialed with multiple safety and health professional certifications. In 2018, Heather launched Paradigm Safety to provide safety support to businesses who do not have, cannot afford to or do not feel the need for a full time, senior-level safety professional. Paradigm takes the pain away from the business owner, human resource professional or facilities manager who may be attempting to cover basic safety compliance as time permits. Heather can also supplement safety teams who need technical help or outside assistance for a special project.  Heather works with clients to create specific programs, develop practical safety policies, improve ergonomics, inspect for hazards, conduct assessments and lead training to reduce injury frequency and severity. Her expertise in workplace health inspires employers to promote a “safety-always” culture.
